Motion smoothing has been the thorn in many filmmakers' sides for as long as flat screen televisions have existed and now that issue is finally being addressed in a big way. TV manufacturers, the UHD Alliance, and an endless list of filmmakers have teamed up to introduce a new feature called Filmmaker Mode. Companies like Vizio, LG, and Panasonic will soon implement the feature, which will allow for a more accurate, cinematic viewing experience, just like the director intended. No more digging into confusing system menus to deactivate specific features and modes to get everything just right. Upcoming TV sets to be released in 2020 will either automatically adjust the settings or offer a dedicated Filmmaker Mode button.
