Samsung's new external SSDs are built for demanding power users

The drives can transfer a 20GB-sized 4K video file in 12 seconds.

Samsung is taking external drives to the next level with its Portable SSD X5. The drive uses Thunderbolt 3, which allows for read speeds of up to 2,800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 2,300 MB/s. This means insane transfer speeds, we're talking 20GB files in just over 10 seconds in a compact form factor that fits in the palm of your hand. The drive has a full metal housing with a shock-resistant internal frame and can withstand drops from up to 6.6 feet. It also has a heat sink and Dynamic Thermal Guard technology to reduce the chance of overheating. 

The Portable SSD X5 comes in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations.
