While untethered VR exists in mobile, it's not quite the same experience when your headset is powered by a properly equipped desktop. HP is doing just that with their new Omen X Compact desktop, which has a dock for when it needs to be used in a more traditional mouse and keyboard setup and then can be removed and worn like a backpack for untethered VR. The device is powered by a Core i7 processor and can be used with an HTC Vive or any other compatible headset.
