Apple announces a $999 MacBook Air and gives it double the storage

It also gets an upgraded keyboard and quad-core processors.

Apple's MacBook Air is getting some much-needed updates that bring a lower price tag and greatly improved performance. Now starting at just $999, the base model of the has a 1.1GHZ dual-core Intel Core i3 processor with 256GB of storage, 8GB of RAM, and Intel Iris Plus Graphics. As for custom configurations, the Air can be equipped with 1.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processors, up to 2TB of SSD storage, and you can pack it with up to 16GB of RAM. The 13.3" display maintains its 2560x1600 resolution at 227 ppi, a Touch ID sensor, and support for displays of up to 6K resolution.
