You'll have a ton of trunks to choose from this summer, but only a handful are worth your time. We've collected five solid trunks that are high up on our list this season and we think they'll make the cut when it comes to packing for your own vacations this summer.

Aether's Camo Swim Short ($125) is a  take on the traditional boardshort design that combines bold patterns and technical fabrics. The shorts use Schoeller's microfiber fabric that isn't just comfortable, but is also designed to dry quickly.

Made in California from a factory that's been working on trunks for watermen and lifeguards since the '60s, the Apolis Transition Scout Short ($108) don't resemble your typical swim trunk with its low-profile military-style looks.

It's no wonder J.Crew looked to Birdwell for an authentic pair of Made in California boardshorts. The company has been at it since 1961 and has had a loyal following ever since. Our favorite style from their collection is this classic, Striped Board Short ($85) in burgundy.

Onia Shaw Lite

Onia's Shaw Lite Short ($195) is a perfectly minimal tech-inspired board short from the young beachwear company. The short features four-way stretch making it a great short in and out of the water and it also features an advanced water-resistant coating.

Orlebar Brown Bulldog

The Orlebar Brown Bulldog ($240) is their best selling short for good reason. It's neither too long or too short, it's perfectly tailored, and every season it comes in a seemingly endless array of patterns, prints, and colors for every taste and preference.
