Sotheby's is auctioning off Gerald Genta's personal Royal Oak this February
Genta's iconic design was introduced to the world in 1972.
Sotheby's is helping celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with a special auction that celebrates the watch's legendary designer, Gerald Genta. Genta's iconic timepiece was introduced to the world in 1972 and five decades later, it is not only the most popular watch from Audemars Piguet but is also one of the most recognizable watch designs of all time. Gerald Genta's personal Royal Oak, a two-tone steel and gold Ref. 5402 from 1975, will be put up for sale this coming February and we can only imagine it will be one of the most coveted watches to ever hit the auction block.
