Panerai rewinds back to the early '90s for its new Mare Nostrum
The watch is inspired by the 1993 “Slytech” Mare Nostrum reference.
The Mare Nostrum is back for 2017 and this time they've taken their inspiration from a 1993 "Slytech" model. Encased in steel, the watch forgoes the oversized models of the past and scales back to a much more sensible 42mm case that has an engraved tachymeter bezel, a dark blue dial, and a two-register chronograph. Movement is their Panerai Caliber OP XIII, which is a manually-wound ETA 2801-2 with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module.
