This rain poncho has a neat little trick up its sleeve.

Artist and occasional product designer Tom Sachs reveals his latest work with Nike. This time the designer isn't releasing a shoe, but a technical poncho that's made out of Dyneema. What makes it really interesting is how it's used. The "Exploding Poncho" isn't simply put on, it deploys from a waist pack via two loops that you pull and throw over your head to instantly protect yourself from the elements. Once it's dry out there, the jacket simply rolls back into the bag and is as easily secured as it is deployed.

The piece is part of Sachs' NIKECRAFT Transitions collection, which launches at the Tokyo Opera Gallery in Japan on April 27th with a global release to follow soon after.
