If you're a serious watch guy then you know the name William Massena. Massena has had quite a few roles in the watch industry from being the current Managing Director of TimeZone to the former Chief Operating Officer of Antiquorum. This month, Massena debuted his latest project, Massena LAB, a new project that will help independent watchmakers develop some of the most unique timepieces on the market.
The first release has already been a home run for the company as the limited run of 50 watches have already sold out. The Habring2 Erwin LAB01 is an elegant timepiece with a 38.5mm bronze case, which is hand brushed and features a stepped bezel that surrounds a dial inspired by the sector dials of the 1930s. Divided into four concentric segments, the markings and numerals are raised and finished in gold to give it dimension and joins the gold-plated numerals and hands, which add a striking contrast against the deep black dial.
The Caliber A11MS is built in-house and is a hand-wound movement with a 48-hour power reserve. The 65-component movement features a patented deadbeat seconds mechanism and measures just 30mm x 5.7 mm in size. Other details include flat sapphire glass that features an anti-glare coating on both sides, 50M water resistance, and a handmade Italian honey leather strap.
