Groenfeld for Hodinkee

Originally released in 2016, the 1941 Remontoire Limited Edition was immediately celebrated for its styling and complex construction and even won the Men's Watch Award at the 2016 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. Hodinkee founder, Ben Clymer, approached Grönefeld to potentially create a new model with a closed dial, but to do that would require an entire redesign of the movement.

Grönefeld took up the challenge and created a limited edition that required over a month of engineering just to see if it was technically possible to take the exposed speed governor from the original design and place it lower to allow for the closed dial. To accomplish this, a flatter governer was created with a shorter pinion and they also created a brand new bridge.

The end result is a stunning timepiece with a closed, three-piece salmon dial and a 39.5mm stainless steel case. This will be packaged in an exclusive Grönefeld presentation box with a Hodinkee carrying case and will include two straps: a blue alligator strap and a HODINKEE-exclusive Reid Goatskin Strap with black stitching and quick-release spring bars.

The watch is available now and is limited to 12 pieces.
