Columbia is taking on DWR with their new OuDry Extreme technology. The fabric is said to eliminate the downsides of traditional waterproof coatings with an abrasion-resistant membrane that is placed on the outside rather than the inside of the jacket. This allows for a permanent, waterproof layer that never wears out. The jacket is also designed to be highly breathable and their own tests claim that the material is 17%-74% more breathable than rival fabrics. Other features include a moisture wicking interior, articulated elbows two-way underarm venting, and full, seam sealed construction.
