Macallan introduces a new Sherry Oak 40 Years Old for 2017
The Macallan is back with another 40 Years Old expression for 2017 and this time they've used a whiskey that's been matured in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain. The entire process requires two sherry butt casks and 1 sherry hogshead cask to create the copper-colored formula. The flavor profile is described to have a nose of gingers, wood spice, sweet cinnamon and citrus with a palate of soft cinnamon spices, date, and figs and a finish of cinnamon spice.
The whiskey will be available later this month with only 465 bottles available worldwide with 70 of those bottles allocated to the US.
