The Macallan adds a 1978 vintage to its Fine & Rare range
Joining the 52 Years Old we highlighted last week is a new addition to the Fine & Rare range. This 1978 vintage was matured in a second fill remade American oak Hogshead cask and has a noise of "rich ginger and antique oak, moving into dried apricot, vanilla toffee and deep orange oil with a dash of nutmeg and peat smoke intertwines" with a palate of "oak spice, bitter orange turning sweet, balanced with delicate peat smoke" and a finish that's described as "soft, silky and creamy, finishing on peated orange sweetness."
243 bottles will be available worldwide and only 5 will be allocated to the US for 2018.
