Shinola's takeover of Detroit continues as the watch company expands into hotels. The company's first hotel will be located in their hometown with a location on the famous Woodward Ave. A collaboration between Shinola and the real estate arm of their parent company, Bedrock, the 130+ room will feature a Detroit-inspired room designed by Gachot Studios and Detroit-based Kraemer Design Group.

“We are excited about this venture because it presents a challenging creative exercise to create a boutique hotel concept that Detroit will be proud of. We've assembled best-in-class talent that will result in an experience which reflects the philosophy of the Shinola brand." said Tom Kartsotis, Founder, Shinola. “We are partnering with industry experts like Gachot Studios for interior design and help with real estate development, as well as NoHo Hospitality to guide the food and beverage programming. Josh Pickard, one of the NoHo Hospitality partners, grew up in Detroit so it all felt very organic.”

The idea behind the hotel will be a living room vibe targeting business travelers, tourists, and locals seeking a great place to dine a drink in Detroit's re-emerging downtown. Shinola aims to open the hotel in the Fall of 2018.
