Marc Newson follows up his hourglass with the Klepsydra
The design features millions of steel nanoballs that are used as a 30 minute counter.
Named after Greek water clocks, Marc Newson's Klepsydra is a follow-up to the designer's coveted nanoball-filled hourglasses and is the latest in his growing collection of statement-making clocks. Constructed out of crystal and aluminum, the Klepsydra houses millions of these tiny, precisely-sized steel nanoballs, which gradually fill an array of individual cups to power the mechanism of the 30-minute counter. Sure, it's incredibly excessive for something that has one singular function, but a Marc Newson piece is always hard to ignore, especially one that is so elegantly executed.
