Highland Park is celebrating the most important figure in the company's history, Magnus Eunson, who founded the distillery in High Park in 1798. The distillery's Master Whiskey Maker Gordon Motion explains:
"I wanted to create a whisky which had the lightly-peated characteristics familiar to the Highland Park family but with a sweeter and more profound vanilla flavor profile. The result is a whisky crafted using a high proportion of Sherry seasoned American oak casks along with refill casks which give MAGNUS its citrus, vanilla and lightly smoky taste."
More specifically, the flavors are described to have notes of "lemon, vanilla cake, caramelized pineapple, light smoke and violets" with a taste of "sweet, vanilla, light peat, and floral" and a finish with "light citrus, vanilla and lightly smoky" notes.
Magnus will be available this month and is exclusive to the US and Canada.
