Volkswagen is building a Golf GTI that can hit 164 mph
The hot hatch is inspired by their TCR racecar.
Volkswagen is building a roadgoing version of its TCR racecar and if you're a GTI fan, you're going to be in for a treat at the end of this year. The hot hatch is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine that is capable of producing 286 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, allowing for a top speed of 164 mph with the electronic top-speed limiter removed. It will also feature a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, limited-slip differential, 18-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels standard, perforated brake discs with special calipers and brake pads, DCC adaptive damping, and a new bumper to channel air into the car's two additional radiators.
