Tesla has got another big achievement to gloat about as it can now lay claim to having the first electric car with an EPA range rating of over 400 miles. This range applies to all Model S Long Range Plus cars built since late January and it marks a major milestone in the car's history since its introduction, which launched with 265 miles of range in 2012. The 402 miles of range was achieved through extensive weight-saving measures, a new "Tempest" aero wheel and custom tire that reduces rolling resistance, an electric oil pump and gearbox upgrades, and further optimization to its regenerative braking system.
