Porsche Penske Motorsport unveils its new trophy hunter, the 963
Porsche Penske Motorsport is getting ready to compete in the world's most prestigious endurance races with the reveal of its new LMDh-spec prototype, the 963. Inspired by the 956 and 962 race cars, the 963 is based on an LMP2-category chassis from Multimatic while Bosch, Williams Advanced Engineering, and Xtrac have been tasked to deliver the standard hybrid components. Those components work alongside a 4.6L biturbo V8, which is based on the engine used in the 918 Spyder. As for the design, the car's shape combines elements of their race cars from the 1980s while a light strip at the rear is a nod to the Porsches of today.
The 963 will be available to customers during its first year of competition.
