Polestar has launched a new special edition of the Polestar 2 called the BST Edition 270. Taking inspiration from the concept vehicle produced specifically for the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the BST Edition 270 is essentially a driver's car version of the all-electric crossover. Based on the Polestar 2 Performance Pack spec, a number of adjustments and tweaks have been made to the vehicle to give it a sportier, more driver-focused feel with a chassis that has been tuned for the track.
To sharpen the handling of the car, the company equipped it with Öhlins 2-way adjustable dampers that are easily accessible from the 'frunk' of the car, allowing owners to adjust the damping for virtually any type of driving. The knobs can be adjusted by turning the "clicker" knobs counterclockwise and can be adjusted yourself or through a Polestar service center. Oh, and they look pretty damn cool too.
You've also got higher spring rates to optimize the car's handling in the corners, adjustable spring preload for track driving, a strut tower brace to enhance stiffness, and improved stopping power via four-piston Brembo brakes that are fitted to the front and are finished in the same gold motif as the Öhlins dampers. The tires are fitted with 21", diamond-cut lightweight wheels that are constructed out of forged aluminum and the Pirelli P Zeros have been designed specifically for this car.
Taking the performance even further is a software update that makes the BST 270 the most powerful Polestar yet, building on the 78kWh battery that comes with every Dual Motor, boosting the car's output to 476 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. This translates to a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 127 mph while still managing to deliver a EPA-rated range of 247 miles on a single charge.
A number of exterior enhancements set the 270 apart such as the matte black center stripe that can accent your choice of a 'Snow' or 'Thunder' exterior paint finish and you can pair the Thunder option with a 3M Battleship Gray wrap for an even more unique look. Inside, the car can be fitted with a Bridge of Weir Nappa leather interior in Zinc Gray. Overall, it's a unique option amongst what you see from say an AMG or M-branded car. The 270 BST is executed in such a way that certainly turns it up a couple notches without being too brash or in your face. It's an elegant and considered approach and one we hope becomes a full lineup of performance vehicles.
The Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 will be limited to 270 units worldwide and only 47 have been allocated to North America.
