Originally launched in 1979, the G-Class is celebrating its 40th birthday this year and Mercedes-Benz is marking the occasion with three new special editions. The Stronger than Time Editions will feature a G 400d diesel that produces 330 hp and a G500 model with a 422 hp 4.0L V8. The SUVs will feature AMG Line equipment that includes flared wheel arches, AMG-style bumper details, and a sports exhaust system in the G500.
The Stronger than Time AMG Edition marks the 20th birthday of the AMG-powered models with the 585 hp, 4.0L V8-powered G63. The special edition will feature an AMG-specific radiator grille with a dark chrome finish, matte chrome running boards, tailpipes, mirror housings, and bumper trim elements. It will also be equipped with 22-inch matte black wheels, G manufaktur paint options, a nappa leather and carbon fiber interior, and an optional AMG Trail Package to enhance the G's off-road capabilities.
Since the G400d and the G500 aren't sold in the US, we wouldn't hold our breath for those editions to make their way over the Atlantic. It's possible that the Stronger than Time G63 could land in the US but nothing has been announced at this time.
