Mercedes-AMG unveils its new entry-level SL43
Mercedes-AMG adds a new model to the SL lineup with the entry-level SL43. Slotted below the V8 models, the SL43 is powered by an inline four-cylinder engine that produces 381 hp and 351 lb-ft of torque. And in specific driving situations, an additional boost of 14 hp is added via the second-generation RSG. This translates to a 0-62 time of 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 170 mph. It will also mark the first time an F1-derived electric exhaust gas turbocharger is used in a production car. Using the same technology as the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team, the turbo enhances throttle response while also maintaining efficiency.
Mercedes has not yet announced a release for the SL43 in the US and its availability here is still under consideration.
