
Mercedes-AMG unveils its most powerful customer racing car
Mercedes-AMG introduces a new GT2 model that will join their GT3 and GT4 cars for the 2023 racing season. Part of its customer racing program, the AMG GT2 is powered by an AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine with a flat crankshaft that produces 707 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a six-speed racing gearbox with modified gear ratios, the GT2 features enhanced aero throughout the exterior, a central wheel mount system, a fully programmable dashboard system, and a multi-function steering wheel developed in collaboration with Cube Controls. Additional features include racing-specific driver aid systems, a steel roll-cage, a carbon driver safety cell with a six-point safety belt with customizable ergonomic seat foaming, safety nets, an extrication hatch, a carbon safety fuel tank, and a motorsport fire extinguishing system.
Sales of the AMG GT2 will begin during the 2023 racing season.
