Building on its high-performance roots, Mercedes-AMG debuts its new GLE 53. The new model is powered by a 3.0L inline-six that produces 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. It's also coupled with their EQ Boost technology that features a 48V electrical system that works alongside the combustion engine to achieve a speedy 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Other performance-specific features include an AMG Speedshift 9G transmission, 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive, AMG Active Ride Control, Air Suspension with continuously adjustable damping, high-performance braking, and AMG Dynamic Select driving modes.
The exterior will feature an array of AMG-specific upgrades such as an updated radiator grille with 15 vertical chromed strips, 20-inch light alloy wheels, a horizontal chrome rear diffuser strip, chrome exhausts, and an optional AMG Night Package that finishes a number of the SUV's exterior trim elements in black. On the inside, the GLE 53 will be equipped with an ARTICO/microfiber DINAMICA interior standard and Mercedes' MBUX infotainment system that features voice-operated controls.
The GLE 53 will be available in the US in late 2020.
