Sure, the P1 went toe to toe with the 918 and LaFerrari and succeeded, but for many McLaren fans the car wasn't the next-gen F1 they had hoped for. This will all change with what McLaren currently calls the BP23, a "Hyper-GT", which they say will be the most aerodynamic, road-going McLaren to ever hit the road.
The car is currently in development at McLaren Special Operations in the UK and only 106 cars will be produced. The entire run is already sold out and the first examples will reach customers in 2019. And yes, it will be coming off the line in a three-seat configuration.
