The newest killer-app in in-car technology may be making its way to your windscreen in the future. Jaguar is testing a "360-degree Virtual Urban Windscreen" that uses transparent roof pillars to give the driver a full, 360-degree view of your outside surroundings.

Whether it's distracting or helpful remains to be seen, but that's why it's mostly in the R&D phase at the moment. So how does this help you on the road? The two most important features will be safety and navigation. The virtual screen will display information like parking space availability, assistance when overtaking, and a "ghost car" feature that displays a virtual car in front of you that you follow to your destination. Check out the video above to see the windscreen in action.
