Hyundai previews the electrified future of its N performance brand
Hyundai previewed the future of its N Brand with two new concepts and the announcement of its first electric N model with an IONIQ 5 N for 2023. First up is the RN22e, a performance EV based on the IONIQ 6, which features an electronic limited slip differential, lightweight 3D printed parts, all-wheel-drive, four-piston monoblock calipers, and 400mm hybrid discs. The car produces 430kW of power and 730 Nm of torque and will hit a top speed of over 155 mph. The big showstopper is the N Vision 74, a hydrogen fuel cell hybrid inspired by the Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed Hyundai Pony Coupe concept from 1974. Using a hydrogen fuel cell system that's combined with a battery-electric system, the N Vision 74 produces over 500 kW of power and over 900 Nm of torque, allowing for a top speed of over 155 mph and a range of over 370 miles.
The first electric N, the IONIQ 5 N, will be released globally in 2023. Hyundai plans to reveal more about the all-electric performance hatch in the near future.
