Gunther Werks 400R

Gunther Werks modernized take on the 993 is coming to fruition with the announcement of the production of the 400R. More than 45 employees at the company's Southern California facility will be assembling each car by hand, which includes a number of Porsche experts and carbon fiber and composite experts. The production process will involve a full disassembly of a 993, which is then thoroughly inspected, media blasted, and primered.

The company then fits its custom carbon fiber panels and an array of customized components, which results in a 2,700 lb car and a body with a 63 inch square track. Jeff Gamroth of Rothsport Racing has been put in charge of each car's engine, a 4.0L flat-six that produces over 400 hp, 330 lb-ft of torque, and a 7,800 rpm redline.

Only 25 400Rs will be built and the first three cars will be delivered to customers in the fall with additional cars that are planned to reach more customers by the end of the year.

$525,000 (price w/o donor 993),
