BMW has offered up new details on its upcoming i4 electric sedan as it prepares for its launch early next year in the U.S. Positioned as a four-door Grand Coupé, the i4 will launch with two models: the i4 eDrive40 and the i4 M50. The i4 eDrive 40 produces 335 hp and features a rear-wheel-drive configuration with up to 300 miles range. The performance-focused, all-wheel-drive i4 M50 produces 536 hp and gets up to 245 miles of range.
As for performance, the i4 eDrive 40 gets from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds while the i4 M50 with Sport Boost does it 3.9 seconds. Both models feature DC fast-charging compatibility (up to 200kW) that allows for a boost of 90 miles of range with just ten minutes of charge time. Both models can be equipped with the adaptive M suspension (standard in the i4 M50), which enhances stability and ride comfort.
Additional features include a driver-focused cabin with BMW's iDrive 8-powered Curved Display that combines a 12.3" information display and a 14.9" control display, Head-Up display, automatic three-zone climate control, nanofiber filter technology for air purification, acoustic glazing for a quieter cabin, optional ambient lighting, an optional, 16-speaker, seven amplifier 464W Harman Kardon audio system, and an array of enhanced driver assistance and safety technologies.
Pre-orders ($1,500 deposit) are now being taken with deliveries set for Q1 2022.
