Land Rover reveals the 2022 Defender V8
The 2022 Defender is going to have a bit more rumble under the hood as the company unveils the new V8-powered 90 and 110. The new models will use an updated version of Land Rover's 5.0L supercharged V8, which produces 518 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque. This translates to a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph in the Defender 90. The new engine option will also come with a new Dynamic mode, updated suspension and transmission tuning, custom spring and damper rates, and a new Electronic Active Rear Differential.
On the exterior side of things, the V8 is differentiated from the rest of the lineup with its quad tailpipes, model-specific badging, 22" wheels, and Xenon Blue front brake calipers. Land Rover has also announced an all-new model at the top of the V8 line called the Carpathian Edition (above), which is finished in Carpathian Grey metallic paint with a Narvik Black contrast roof, hood, and tailgate. This model also includes Satin Black tow eyes, Carpathian Gloss front and rear skid pans, a front grille bar, and Xenon Blue brake calipers.
