Lincoln has made quite the statement with the all-new Navigator and now the company wants to keep that momentum going with the 2020 Aviator. Much more than a smaller Navigator, the premium mid-size SUV will be home to two engine options: A twin-turbo V6 that produces 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque and their first plug-in hybrid that will boast 450 hp and a humongous 600 lb-ft of torque.
Just like the interior of its larger sibling, the Aviator will be chock full of considered details and amenities that include a variety of luxurious material and finish options, 30-way adjustable seats, massage capability, and a powerful 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D Audio system. One really interesting detail are the chimes in the car, which have been performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, a soothing and more pleasing solution to the artificial beeps that seem to get louder and more aggressive every year.
The SUV will also come standard with an array of safety features called Co-Pilot360 and can be upgraded with a Plus package that features Traffic Jam Assist for enabling adaptive cruise control in stop-and-go traffic, Evasive Steer Assist that can offer additional steering support or braking in the event of a potential collision, and Active Park Assist that helps drivers park in parallel or perpendicular spaces with just a push of a button and without the need of driver intervention.
They will also include a Phone As A Key feature that lets you use your smartphone as a fully-featured key without ever needed a traditional key or key fob. The app can start your car remotely, lock and unlock the doors, and it can send virtual keys to friends or family members who might need to use the car.
