Ford wasn't quite finished with the unveiling of the 2020 Explorer. The company still had a couple of surprises up its sleeves and one of those surprises was a high-performance ST variant. The Explorer ST gets more than a few visual upgrades and handling tweaks, the SUV gets even more power with a specially tuned 3.0L EcoBoost engine that will produce 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. A 0-60 time has yet to be announced, but they have announced a targeted top track speed of 143 mph.
It will be equipped with a 10-speed automatic and four-wheel-drive standard with traction control modes. Also available are ST Street Pack and ST Track Pack upgrades that offer 21-inch aluminum wheels, various performance brake options, red-painted calipers with stainless steel pistons, and larger brake pads. Other features include a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, flat-bottomed heated steering wheel, micro-perforated leather sport bucket seats, a standard Class III Trailer Tow Package with Cargo Management System, and Active Park Assist 2.0.
