A rare 1956 red Jaguar D-Type is going up for sale at Gooding's Scottsdale 2018 auction

Originally owned by Bernie Ecclestone and sold to its first private owner, Peter Blond, for less than $5,000, this stunning red Jaguar D-Type will soon be going on the auction block for an estimated $10-$12,000,000. Raced in a number of competitions, this D-Type placed in the top ten in many of those races from 1956 to 1961. 

The car has seen a variety of owners, eventually making its way to America and then was acquired from Bill Jacobs in Joliet, Illinois and has remained in that owner's possession since 2008. On sale for the first time in a decade, the car is finished in red livery and has the correct 3.4L, matching numbers engine, which produces 250 hp and could reach a top speed of 170 mph.
