The Xbox 360 is getting some new duds today to prepare for the upcoming release of Kinect (November). The new system ($300) is slimmer and sharper with Wi-Fi built-in (finally!) and will include a 250GB hard drive. Lets just hope this one is red-ring-proof. Link

Kinect for Xbox

Microsoft and Sony are set to announce their respective Wii-killers this week and first out of the gate is the Kinect, which is the formerly codenamed "Project Natal." The initial lineup to take advantage of Kinect's camera-based motion system are titles like Kinect Sports (that sounds familiar), Star Wars, Kinectimals, and you can even navigate the Xbox interface Minority Report style. Mass Effect 2

Those of you waiting for Xylophone Hero are going to have to wait a bit longer because DJ Hero will be taking the reigns as the next evolution in the popular rhythm-based series. DJ Hero will feature 102 songs from every just about every genre and will include tracks and mixes from artists and DJs like Daft Punk, DJ AM, DJ Jazzy Jeff, The Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, and Afrika Bambaataa. A "Renegade Edition" of DJ Hero will also be available which will include a special bonus disc featuring tracks from Eminem and Jay-Z. Link: $120-$200

Brutal Legend

Need for Speed: Shift

EA wasn't about to let Forza and Gran Turismo have all the fun, they're taking their Need for Speed Franchise right into their territory with Need for Speed: Shift. Mostly known for its arcade-style feel, the new Need for Speed is a true driving sim with realistic physics, crashes, and deep levels of customization options. The game will have a total of 70 cars such as the Zonda F and the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and real-world tracks like Willow Springs, Laguna Seca, and much more. Link: $60

Project Natal for Xbox 360

Uh oh. Microsoft dropped a pretty significant bombshell today and we can't help but wonder if Nintendo is rethinking their Wii strategy at this very moment. Codenamed Project Natal, the device is a camera that captures motion data in real time and recognizes both faces and voices. Rather than picking up a controller the camera tracks your whole body whether you're kicking a soccer ball, painting a canvas, or simply navigating through a list of movies without ever pressing a button or wiggling a controller. Tony Hawk Ride

We're probably not alone in the opinion that the Tony Hawk games as of late haven't exactly revolutionized skateboarding games since the first two titles. The Birdman is hoping that will all change with Tony Hawk: Ride, the first skateboarding game to use its very own skate deck controller. Not much is known about how the skateboard peripheral is used, but we're definitely excited to find out. Available on Wii, 360, and PS3.Link

The undisputed king (and pioneer) of the survival horror genre, Resident Evil, is hitting shelves everywhere tomorrow with a next-gen graphic overhaul and online multiplayer gameplay.
