PlayStation Vita

Sony unveiled its next generation handheld, the PlayStation Vita. Originally previewed last year, the new handheld ($250-$300) touts a 5'' inch touchscreen OLED screen, two analog sticks, rear camera, and a rear touch pad. It will also come in a 3G or Wi-Fi model and will launch with titles like Uncharted, Wipeout, and LittleBigPlanet. Link

Don't let the low profile looks fools, under the hood of Sony's new wireless PS3 headphones ($100) is 7.1 channels of virtual surround sound so you can blow up the mothership without getting kicked out of your apartment complex. PlayStation Move

Sony's got Nintendo square in its sights and they're not taking this challenge laying down. Sony has officially unveiled their own motion controller dubbed the "PlayStation Move", which aims to dethrone Nintendo's "Wiimote" with what they consider to be a much more accurate motion control system. The "Move" works in conjuction with the PlayStation Eye camera and a sub-controller a la the Nintendo Nunchuk.Bundles with both the Eye and Move Controller will be available at launch. Heavy Rain

One of the most hotly anticipated titles for the PS3 isn't the next Halo killer or Resident Evil, its a game called Heavy Rain which puts the player in what some would say is akin to this generation's "Choose Your Own Adventure". The story takes place in an eastern US city that's being terrorized by "The Origami Killer" where you take control of one of four characters who's every action and decision determines the outcome of the game's story. DJ Hero

Those of you waiting for Xylophone Hero are going to have to wait a bit longer because DJ Hero will be taking the reigns as the next evolution in the popular rhythm-based series. DJ Hero will feature 102 songs from every just about every genre and will include tracks and mixes from artists and DJs like Daft Punk, DJ AM, DJ Jazzy Jeff, The Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, and Afrika Bambaataa. A "Renegade Edition" of DJ Hero will also be available which will include a special bonus disc featuring tracks from Eminem and Jay-Z. Link: $120-$200

Need for Speed: Shift

EA wasn't about to let Forza and Gran Turismo have all the fun, they're taking their Need for Speed Franchise right into their territory with Need for Speed: Shift. Mostly known for its arcade-style feel, the new Need for Speed is a true driving sim with realistic physics, crashes, and deep levels of customization options. The hefty PS3 is going on a pretty substantial diet this September. The new PS3 gets cut down to a trimmer size with a body that is 33% lighter and 36% smaller. All the features from the original PS3 model will be carried over and it will include a 120GB hard drive. It will also feature a Bravia Sync option that lets you operate the system with your Sony Bravia TV remote. Link: $300
