The Volkswagen XL was and is unlike anything the company has ever built before and now they've gone one, no two steps further with one of their wildest concepts to date, the XL Sport Concept. What makes it so interesting is that they've swapped out the 1-Liter diesel hybrid for a Ducati V-Twin engine, yes, you heard that right, a full-on Ducati superbike engine from an 1199.
Capable of revving to 11,000 rpm, the Superleggera V-Twin will launch the XL Sport from 0-62 in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 169 mph. The design also gets a more aggressive update with the bolder fenders, larger wheels, a rear lighting element to highlight the width of the car, and a set of air intakes and outlets to help cool the drive unit. No word on production possiblities, but if the XL1 can make it into production, an XL Sport hitting showrooms shouldn't be out of the question.
