Subaru BRZ Preview

While we love that Toyota is making performance coupes again, we've got to admit that we're more interested in what Subaru has planned for the platform. Though there's no word on whether or not they'll be using the same 197 horsepower boxer engine, you can bet there will be exciting things in the works for the new little Subiyota. Link

2012 Scion IQ

scioniq.jpg

Scion is hoping to make a major dent in the city car market with the imminent release of their two-door, four-seater IQ. We recently got a chance to get behind the wheel of the IQ and found the urban-friendly microcar to be as adept as its full sized brethren with a punchy little 4-cylinder that produces 94 hp which isn't quite HEMI-power, but should be all the power you need on your daily commute. As for fuel efficiency you'll average 37 combined miles per gallon which should be good for up to 315 miles on a full tank.

Inside Scion made sure to appease the iPod generation with a standard 160-watt Pioneer AM/FM/CD/MP3 deck, USB/Auxiliary inputs, and steering wheel mounted audio controls. Bluetooth wireless audio streaming and handsfree calling are also standard. All of this comes priced at a hair under $16k and we think that's easy to stomach for first time car buyers or deep pocketed city-dwellers looking for a solid daily driver. Overall we think Scion has got an impressive package here. A package we equate to that of an iPod: small, compact, and ready with all the functionality you need without overdoing it. Link

2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series

cblack.jpg

The 2012 C63 Black Series is latest jewel to come roaring out of AMG packing a 510 hp 6.3 liter V8 (457 lb-ft of torque) that will bring the car from zero to sixty in 4.2 seconds, which today is still a preliminary figure. To bring that power into the C63, the engineers looked to the C63's big brother, the SLS AMG, of which it shares qualities with, specifically the forged pistons, lightweight crankshaft, and connecting rods that make for a more than worthy arsenal against its fellow German rivals.
