2011 VW Jetta

vw2011j.jpg

As if Toyota didn't have enough to worry about, the Germans decided it was high time to build an affordable Jetta. The new Jetta, believe it or not, starts at $16,000 and if you're in the market for a Corolla you're probably now thinking twice about your potential purchase. We had a chance to whip the car around some twisty roads in beautiful Northern California, and we've got to say its a mighty impressive car. And don't think VW went completely downmarket, they've made available the latest bleeding edge technology like push button start, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a very impressive amount of trunk space and rear leg room. Bottom line, we think the 2011 Jetta is the car to beat. Available in showrooms this Fall. Link

You won't be alone in opinion that station wagons nowadays aren't the cumbersome, oddly-shaped, grandpa-mobiles of yesterday. The new 2011 Volvo V60 is a prime example of this. Using their latest design language the new V60 is svelte and sporty with an aggressive stance and a throaty engine to match. At the top end the car will boast a 3.0 liter turbo capable of taking the car to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds. Link

In a parallel universe where Batman was a doting, carpooling dad, this is probably what the caped crusader would be driving. The matte black C-Class DR 250 wagon packs 520 horses for a 0-62 time of 4.1 seconds and features an AMG performance kit, a carbon fiber aero-kit, and a reworked interior. Link

2011 Volkswagen Phaeton

In a segment dominated by likes of the BMW 7 and Mercedes S-Class, Volkswagen is probably not very high on your list if you're in the market for a full-size luxury sedan. VW hopes to change that with their 2011 model which they're bringing back to America with a revamped front-end and some new fangled car tech such as variable headlamps, Google Maps GPS, four-zone climate control, and an optional Dynaudio sound system.
